Discriminant Function Analysis

In order to examine the hypothesis that group membership could be correctly predicted by OPAT and CADT performance, a stepwise Discriminant Function Analysis (DFA) was carried out. The predictor variables included in the analysis were: mean score on OPAT trials 1-3, OPAT delayed, and mean score on the valid clock section of the CADT.

A single discriminant function involving the delayed recall trial of the OPAT and the score on valid clock classification emerged. The details of the analysis are shown in Table 6.

As can be seen, the discriminant function accounted for all the variance in group membership. All subjects were classified correctly on the basis of their performance in the two predictors (see Table 7).
